Thank you for checking out my blog! Here you will find weekly ramblings (hopefully well put together ramblings) about why I've chosen sobriety, things that have helped me stay sober, struggles in the path of my sobriety, as well as reflections of what lead to my drinking problem.
My main goal is to shred shame and stigma behind mental health and alcohol use disorder. Why? Well, we're all human for one and we should be allowed to make mistakes that don't define us for the rest of our lives. Alcohol in all it's glory is an addictive substance so if you fall prey to that you shouldn't feel ashamed. Finally, because the humiliation I felt ultimately kept me in my addiction far longer.
You know what helped me the most when I started googling "do I have a drinking problem?", other sober people living their lives out loud without shame. The confidence boost I got from them was unsurpassed by any treatment center ads, government websites, even support from friends. As much support as I receive (and it's a lot, because I asked for it) there is something magic about other sober people being proud of their journey. So, I want to add to that.
I know living sober out loud is not for everyone and that's okay. We all do things a little differently. If it's okay though, I'd like to share with you some of what works for me as well as some pretty sunset photos. Maybe some day you'll shout to the world "I'm SOBER! It's SAVING MY LIFE!" like I do 24/7 but until then, let's just try to help support each other.
Best, Jen.
